Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Warden ("the App"), developed by Elderlight Studio ("we", "us", "our"), handles information when you use it. We built Warden around a simple principle: your household data stays on your device. Please read this policy carefully.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, or any other personal identifier to use the App. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs of any kind. We have no server or database of our own that stores your inventory items, financial records, or photos.
2. Information Stored On Your Device
To provide its core functionality, Warden stores the following information locally on your device only:
- Inventory items you add — name, category, purchase date, price, and warranty date
- Photos you take or select of your items and warranty cards/receipts, saved in the App's private storage area
- Financial obligations you add — name, type, amount, dates, and recurrence
- App preferences — your chosen language, currency, and theme
None of the information above ever leaves your device unless you personally choose to back it up, export it, or transfer it through your device's own operating system features.
3. Permissions We Request, and Why
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Camera | Lets you photograph an item or a warranty card/receipt directly within the App. Photos are saved only to the App's private local storage. |
| Photo selection | Uses Android's built-in Photo Picker to let you choose an existing photo. The App only receives the single photo you select — it is never given broad access to your photo library. |
| Notifications | Used to remind you the day before a payment is due. These reminders are generated entirely on your device; no reminder data is sent to any server. |
4. Google Play Services
Warden uses two services provided directly by Google, which operate under Google's own privacy policy, not ours:
- Google Play In-App Updates — used to check whether a newer version of the App is available on Google Play.
- Google Play Billing — used to process optional in-app purchases (Pro subscription or lifetime unlock). Payment details are handled entirely by Google Play; we do not see or store your payment card information.
You can review Google's own privacy practices at policies.google.com/privacy.
5. Data Security
Because your information is stored locally rather than on a server we control, its security depends on your device's own security (such as your screen lock). We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date and using a secure lock screen, particularly since Warden may contain photos of valuables and financial details.
6. Children's Privacy
Warden is not directed at children and is not designed to collect any personal information from anyone, including children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your country).
7. Your Choices
Since all data lives on your device, you are always in control of it. You can delete any item, payment, or photo directly within the App at any time. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data associated with it, in accordance with standard Android app behavior.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add a new feature that changes how data is handled. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
